Saratoga Elementary School

We believe that local schools are the heartbeat of our community. Therefore, having a viable presence on a local campus is integral to fulfilling our calling to share the good news with our local community. South Run Baptist Church has a formal partnership with Saratoga Elementary School, which is one of the largest and most disadvantaged schools in our area. There we provide mentors for many at-risk children in one-on-one relationships, as well as sponsor several other ministries among children and adults. There are many ways that you can participate in programs that engage this school with the transformative love of Jesus Christ.

Good News Club
South Run hosts a weekly after-school activity in conjunction with Child Evangelism Fellowship.  We lead the children in songs, Scripture memory, stories, games, and other activities.  The goal of the club is to share the Gospel with the students and disciple them in Christian living.

Staff Support Staff Love
South Run supports and encourages the faculty at Saratoga Elementary School throughout the year. Because we know many teachers in Fairfax County Public Schools are overworked and underappreciated, we see an opportunity to communicate God’s love by providing school supplies, providing volunteers for various schools events, hosting breakfasts and luncheons several times a year, as well as providing various other resources that enhance the lives of those in our community. There are many opportunities to donate your time and energy in assisting us as we fulfill these needs.

ACE (After-Class Enrichment)
“After-Class Enrichment” (ACE) is an opportunity that provides Saratoga students in grades 1-4 with positive experiences while developing relationships with South Run Baptist’s middle schoolers and high schoolers. Good character traits are modeled to these students through crafts, exercise, games and lots of conversation. ACE meets Tuesday afternoons from 4-5:15 pm, October through mid-May, and gives students extra one on one time that is not available in a classroom setting.

Weekend Warriors
Every week we collect enough food for 60 weekend meal bags that are distributed to at-risk children at Saratoga Elementary School. You can help by donating food and/or packing bags on Sunday nights.

Items currently accepted for donation: individual packs of crackers, individual oatmeal packets, granola bars, individual pudding cups, fruit cups, ramen noodles, individual Chef Boyardee cups, single-serving cereal boxes, cereal bars, and single serving Easy Mac’n cheese.

Virginia’s Eastern Shore

The Eastern Shore, geographically removed from the rest of Virginia, presents a unique opportunity for ministry. It is composed of the two poorest counties in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and offers a unique opportunity for service. In coordination with the local Baptist association, The Bridge Network of Churches, South Run seeks serve those who are both spiritually and physically in need.

Annual Mission Trip

Every August, South Run Baptist Church takes a week-long trip to Cape Charles, Virginia, on the Eastern shore to share the love of Christ with local children. During the day, Cape Charles Baptist Church hosts a Summer Day Camp for the community of Cape Charles. Our volunteers provide the program that includes prayer, worship, sports, snacks, crafts, and biblical teaching. In the evenings, the team provides a sports camp for kids and Bible Studies for adults at a local migrant camp.

Word of Truth Church in Kirov, Russia

Situated just west of the Ural Mountains, Kirov, Russia, is the administrative center of the Kirov Oblast. The Word of Truth Church has been a beacon of light for this major transportation hub along the Trans-Siberian Railroad for the past twenty years. Since 2012, South Run has sustained a long-term relationship of mutual encouragement with this great church through financial support and unceasing prayer.

Biennial Mission Trip

Every other year, South Run Baptist Church is committed to taking a small team to our sister church in Kirov, Russia for a week of support and encouragement. During this life-changing trip you can have the opportunity to minister, serve, and worship with the Word of Truth Church and its various ministries at home churches, addiction centers, orphanages, homeless shelters, and local businesses. You can participate by joining the team, praying for the team, or providing financial support to defray expenses for a team member.
