East of Eden
The world is not as it should be. We don’t need a Bible, a parent, a preacher, or anyone else to explain that much to us. As the story of the Bible is told, however, Scripture indicates that the brokenness of the world is manifest in four ways: 1. One’s relationship with the creation; 2. One’s relationships with others; 3. One’s relationship or understanding of oneself; and, most importantly, 4. One’s relationship with God. Genesis 3, therefore, serves to address the problems that plague humanity and cast a need for a savior who will make all things new.
