Blessings and Curses
We live in a culture of "stuff." There is an unspoken assumption that "bigger is better" and success is relative to material gain. If you mix in things like health, money, and power, add a few verses from the Bible, you end up with the twentieth-century invention we call the health and wealth gospel. But as we'll see, this is no gospel at all. Today we reach the end of Deuteronomy where Moses speaks of blessings and curses as Israel enters the promised land. Read one way, it sounds like a health and wealth gospel. But read rightly, we find that God's greatest blessing is His presence, and the greatest cursing is His absence. Are you seeking the presence of God in your life?
